Stories Behind the Spectacle Capital Campaign

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum completed the first chapter of The Stories Behind the Spectacle capital campaign in April 2025, opening a completely transformed and reimagined experience. The Museum now focuses on telling the stories of the Indianapolis 500 and Indianapolis Motor Speedway in an educational, engaging, and interactive way. Recognized as one of TIME’s World’s Greatest Places (2026) and named Museum of the Year by the International Historic Motoring Awards (2025), the page now turns to a new and exciting chapter—the construction of a brand-new 87,000-square-foot Restoration and Event Center.

The Restoration and Event Center will allow the public a behind-the-scenes look at the work the restoration team does to preserve the historic vehicles in our collection, includes a car gallery of the cars not on display at the Museum, and offers flexible event and hospitality spaces.

ADOPT PRICELESS CARS FROM RACING HISTORY

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum features one of the world’s leading collections of vintage vehicles and historic race cars. However, those vehicles require regular maintenance and upkeep in order to preserve their historic value.

Our Adopt-A-Car Program helps us conserve these priceless automobiles for future generations of race fans. When adopting a car, your generous donation helps our collections team provide the best care for these world-class cars—from thorough documentation to careful cleanings.
