Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum Announces Plans for New Restoration & Event Facility in Town of Speedway

New 60,000 square foot facility will be for the restoration and exhibition of Museum’s vehicle collection

INDIANAPOLIS (May 22, 2025) – The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum has announced its new
Restoration and Event Facility plans. This is the next chapter in the Museum’s complete overhaul and
expansion, which began in 2023. The new facility will be located in the Town of Speedway at
1111 Polco Street, just outside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The original plans for the new facility were announced in July 2023 when the Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Museum shared its vision for the renovation of the main museum building. The museum reopened to the public
on April 2 after completing a 17-month renovation. This additional location will provide dedicated space for the
full-time restoration department to continue preserving and caring for the vehicle collection. It will also feature
an event space, offering another option for meeting and event planners in the Indianapolis area.

“We are thrilled to share the location and initial designs for the new Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum
Restoration and Event Facility,” said Joe Hale, President of Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum. “This has
always been a plan for the next phase of the Museum, and thanks to the monumental support during our
recent capital campaign, we can begin this project this summer.”

The new 60,000-square-foot Restoration and Event Facility will include multiple restoration and detailing bays
and dedicated space for vehicle storage. Cars not displayed in the Museum will be housed in the new facility,
where the Museum plans to have rotating exhibits and offer public tours.

“With the growth of our restoration program, we need to increase our workspace and storage facility to allow
for the constant preservation of vehicles,” said Jason Vansickle, Vice President of Curation and Education.
“Our restoration team is unmatched in skill, and this new state-of-the-art facility will be one of the best museum
restoration facilities in the country.”

The new facility will enhance the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum’s newly established education
program. Hands-on learning classes will be offered for students interested in pursuing careers in automotive
engineering and restoration. Additional full-time and part-time staff will be added, increasing job opportunities
within the Museum organization.

“The Town of Speedway is proud to welcome the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum’s new Restoration &
Event Facility to our community,” said Nick Sturgeon, Town Council President. “This project not only honors
the town’s rich racing heritage but represents a significant economic investment in our community, bringing
new jobs, increased activity, and long-term growth to the area. We are proud to support a development that will
contribute so meaningfully to our local economy, strengthening Speedway’s position as a hub for innovation,
craftsmanship, and motorsports excellence.”

Work is expected to begin in summer 2025 with an anticipated completion date of late 2026.
