Jeff Gordon

JEFF GORDON retired as a driver at the end of 2016 after an illustrious career that began in go-karts at age 5. Gordon was born in California but finished high school in Pittsboro, Indiana, just 20 minutes west of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He captured the United States Auto Club’s (USAC) National Midget championship in 1989 and the USAC Silver Crown Series title in 1990, then looked south to compete in NASCAR. Gordon earned NASCAR Cup Series Rookie of the Year in 1993 and captured one of the significant moments in NASCAR history by winning the inaugural Brickyard 400 at IMS in 1994. During his meteoric rise to NASCAR superstardom, Gordon won four NASCAR Cup Series titles (1995, ‘97, ’98, ‘01) and a total of 93 wins in 23 seasons, including five Brickyard 400s (1994, ’98, ’01, ’04, ’14) and three Daytona 500s (1997, ’99, ‘05). He also won seven NASCAR Cup Series championships as a co-owner, along with Rick Hendrick, of the car driven by Jimmie Johnson. Upon retirement from driving, Gordon became a television commentator for the FOX network’s NASCAR coverage.
