Given his humble nature and passion for the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Bob Jenkins would want everyone to focus on the upcoming Brickyard Weekend. But right now, we mourn the loss of the man – a broadcasting legend, mentor, great storyteller and all-around wonderful and kind human being. He died Aug. 9 after battling an aggressive form of cancer.
A virtual Memorial Service will take place Monday, Aug. 16 for Jenkins and streamed globally. Please refer to the following news courtesy of IMS.com for details on the service and Bob’s wishes for memorial contributions: bit.ly/IMS-JenkinsMemorial.
One (actually, two) of Bob’s proudest moments was when he was voted into the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame in early 2019, and on Thursday, May 23 of that year, when he was formally inducted into the Hall. Bob’s acceptance speech that night showed the true measure of the man. Please click here if you would like to watch his 10-minute speech from that special night.
