Treat your guests to a truly unique experience and host your special event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum! The museum is located inside the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval, a National Historic Landmark, and is home to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame.

We can host both daytime and evening events: daytime in our Gallery, which often features incredible motorsports imagery or original artwork, and evening events on the Museum floor, with guests surrounded by some of the most beautiful and historically-significant machines in motorsports.

Event Spaces

Whether you are hosting a daytime meeting or an evening event, we have an option for you!

Daytime Events – Museum Gallery

Our newest event space is the Gallery. This room features racing artwork on the walls and memorabilia in display cases that can be moved to accommodate your meeting needs. Museum admission is included in your facility rental, and your guests are invited to enjoy self-guided tours of our exhibits during breaks or after your event.

The room can be configured in a variety of formations including U-shape, tables of eight, classroom, theater seating, and boardroom style. Our events team will work with you on the best setup for your event. Limited in-house audio/visual is available for an additional fee.

Evening Events – Museum Atrium

For after-hours events, your guests will have exclusive access to the museum’s collection of race cars and memorabilia featuring IndyCar, NASCAR, Formula 1, sprint and midgets, motorcycle, and drag racing.

Centrally located in the main museum space, our Atrium is flanked on each side by historic race car exhibits. The Atrium is perfect for a cocktail reception or a sit-down dinner. During your event, guests can experience the rest of the museum as well—including the Gallery and the North Room, which offers 180-degree views of the track and the opportunity to sit in a real Indy Car.

Event Rental Options

Indianapolis Motor Speedway Track Tours:  Our VIP Tour or the Kiss the Bricks Tour

When the track is available, the museum offers a variety of tour options that can be added for guests of your private event. All track tours are subject to availability, and need to be coordinated with the museum in advance of your event. Additional charges apply.

The VIP Tour:

This 90-minute guided tour is an immersive journey into the history and present-day facilities of the Speedway. The tour includes a lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval plus behind-the-scenes access to the Media Center, Victory Podium, Pagoda and a corporate suite. You’ll enjoy a driving tour through the famed Gasoline Alley garage area, and have the option to “Kiss the Bricks” at the famed start/finish line.

Kiss the Bricks Tour

The 25-minute Kiss the Bricks Tour features a narrated lap of the 2.5-mile IMS oval with a stop on the world-famous “Yard of Bricks” at the start/finish line.

Tony Hulman Theater

Enjoy an 8-minute video, full of the history of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in our Tony Hulman Theater. The video plays on a loop, so guests are encouraged to stop in and view at any time.

Photo Car Photographs

Take a seat in an Indy car and smile for the camera! For evening events, photographs can be printed with or without a special co-branded logo border*. Free electronic copies are available with each purchase.

*Artwork for co-branded logo borders must be submitted to the Museum staff at least one week before your event.

Facility Rental FAQs

We provide your basic setup needs including: pre-event planning support, 2ft cocktail tables for evening events, complimentary parking in the museum parking lot, and security. Our evening rentals also come with exclusive use of the museum exhibition areas. Tables, chairs, and linens can be coordinated through our catering partners.

Events may begin one hour after the museum closes to the public. Facility rentals begin at 6:30 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. There are times when our hours of operation vary, with closing at 6 p.m. In these instances, facility rentals are available 7 p.m.- 11 p.m.

Yes, during times when there are activities on the track, certain restrictions do come into play. The events team will provide with you all the necessary information and work with you to ensure that you have a wonderful event.

Yes, if your event takes place during the day on a date that general admission ticketing is in place, you will need to purchase general admission tickets for your guests. Evening events taking place after track activity has ended do not require general admission tickets after gates have closed to the public.

Depending on the event layout and space, we can accommodate up to 150 guests at a sit-down reception, or 800 at a cocktail reception. The events team will work with you on different ways we can accommodate your group within our spaces.

Yes, all food must be secured through our preferred catering partners. Beverages are to be done through our exclusive beverage partner.

Yes, we do have a list of prohibited items. Glass, fog machines, and loose glitter are just a few items on our list. Please talk to the events team for a full list.
